The Set

Casa Etérea is an award-winning film and photography location for rent in Mexico — two mirrored glass residences on an extinct volcano, twenty minutes from San Miguel de Allende. Dramatic elevation, total privacy, and designer interiors that photograph without dressing. Featured on the cover of Architectural Digest Latin America, and previously used for productions by Mercedes-Benz, American Express, Vogue, and Airbnb.

N°1 is clad in a mirrored façade that dissolves into the mountains and sky — an in-camera effect no other set could replicate.

N°2 is warm and cinematic — a modernist Japanese design in red cedar and glass, with designer furnishings and floor-to-ceiling walls that frame the mountains as though they were part of the room.

Sunrises and sunsets pierce through both houses uninterrupted. Each has a private pool. They stand within walking distance of one another — two houses, two setups, no company move and no lost half-day. 8,000 m² of private land, 24-hour access, and a closed set on a volcanic hillside with clean sightlines in every direction. An unmatched setting for stills, commercials, music videos, fashion and feature films.

Production considerations

Weather
At 1,900 metres in Mexico’s high desert, San Miguel de Allende offers some of the most reliable natural light in North America — dry air, zero light pollution, long golden hours, and more than 300 days of sunshine annually. From June to August, light summer showers pass through in the afternoons.
Power & connectivity
Casa Etérea operates entirely on solar power. Productions requiring substantial electrical capacity — lighting packages, base camp, or large monitor setups — should budget for generator hire, arranged locally. High-speed WiFi throughout.
Permits & support
Filming permits are managed at the municipal level. Experienced local fixers advise on permitting, logistics, and crew coordination on request. No drone or airspace restrictions.
Crew & catering
A four-bedroom property for up to 14 guests sits five minutes away; more hotels and rentals 20 minutes on. Catering buffet-style for up to 40. Airport transfers, production vehicles, and drivers on request.
